UIL – University Interscholastic League: provide educational extracurricular academic, athletic, and music contests. The UIL was created by UT-Austin in 1909. It has grown into the largest inter-school organization of its kind in the world.
NCAA – National Collegiate Athletic Association: core purpose is to govern competition in a fair, safe, equitable and sportsmanlike manner. It aims to integrate intercollegiate athletics into higher education. This ensures that the educational experience of the student-athlete is paramount.
USATF – USA Track and Field: the mission is to drive competitive excellence and popular engagement in this sport. USATF also strives to increase recognition for the organization and for track and field in the United States. It encompasses the world’s oldest organized sports. These include the most-watched events of Olympic broadcasts. It is the #1 high school and junior high school participatory sport. Additionally, there are more than 30 million adult runners in the United States.
USATF Training – Training and certification of officials is crucial. This is central to the USATF goal of ensuring fair competition. It also promotes safe competitive opportunities for athletes. The training and certification processes promote a serious and professional approach to officiating and demonstrate an official’s commitment to excellence. As an official gains experience, their exposure to correct officiating practices, and additional training, USATF recognizes this skill development. This recognition is through progressive levels of certification: Association, National, and Master.
